Privacy Policy for Memento
Last updated: July 18, 2026
Memento helps you remember birthdays and other occasions, keep private notes about people, receive reminders, and create personalized gift ideas. This policy explains how information is handled when you use Memento.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller for Memento is:
Mohamed Hassan
Germany
Email: support.memento@gmail.com
2. Information you add to Memento
You may add names, birthdays, photos, relationship categories, notes, occasions, reminder preferences, and saved gift ideas. This content is stored on your device. If iCloud is available for Memento, it is also stored in your private iCloud account through Apple's CloudKit service so it can sync across your Apple devices.
Memento does not send this personal content to Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or a remote artificial-intelligence service. You are responsible for having an appropriate reason or permission to store information about other people.
3. Gift recommendations
Gift recommendations are generated on your device using Apple's Foundation Models and the minimum relevant information you choose to keep in Memento. The prompt and generated recommendations are not sent to Memento's developer, Firebase, or a remote AI provider. Apple Intelligence availability and operation are controlled by your device and Apple's software.
4. Reminders and notifications
If you allow notifications, Memento schedules reminders locally on your device. Notification permission and delivery are managed by Apple. Memento records limited interaction information, such as whether notification permission was granted or denied and when a reminder is opened, as described under Analytics below. Names, note text, birthdays, and notification content are not included in Analytics events.
5. Analytics
Memento uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how app features are used and to improve the app. Firebase may process an app-instance or installation identifier, approximate technical information about the device and app, and interaction data such as app launches, feature selections, result counts, text lengths, broad built-in categories, and timing information.
Memento does not send names, note contents, birthdays, photos, search text, gift-recommendation text, or other personal entries to Analytics. Analytics is not used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or selling personal information.
The legal basis relied upon for this processing is the developer's legitimate interest in understanding and improving Memento, where permitted by applicable law.
6. Crash reports and diagnostics
Memento uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to detect crashes and diagnose technical problems. Crashlytics may process crash traces, installation identifiers, timestamps, app version, device model, operating-system information, device state, and limited diagnostic context describing which app operation failed.
Memento sanitizes non-fatal error reports and does not intentionally include names, birthdays, photos, notes, gift ideas, model prompts or responses, or notification content. The legal basis relied upon is the developer's legitimate interest in maintaining the app's security, reliability, and stability, where permitted by applicable law.
7. Legal-page hosting
These legal pages are delivered using Firebase Hosting. Google may process request information such as an IP address and technical request data to deliver the pages, maintain security, and prevent abuse.
8. Service providers and international processing
- Apple provides the App Store, iCloud and CloudKit synchronization, notifications, and on-device intelligence features. Apple's handling of information is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
- Google LLC provides Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Hosting and processes relevant information on the developer's behalf.
Google and Apple may process information in countries outside Germany or the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers are protected using applicable legal safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. More information is available in Firebase's privacy and security information and Apple's Privacy Policy.
9. How long information is kept
- Content you add remains on your device and, when enabled, in your private iCloud account until you delete it or manage it through your Apple account.
- Uninstalling Memento removes its local data but may not remove information already synchronized to iCloud.
- Firebase Analytics user-level and event-level retention is controlled by the Firebase/Google Analytics property settings, generally for 2 or 14 months. Standard aggregated reports may be retained longer.
- Firebase states that Crashlytics crash traces and associated identifiers are retained for 90 days before removal from live and backup systems begins.
- Firebase states that Hosting IP data is retained for a few months.
10. Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete individual people, notes, occasions, and saved gift ideas inside Memento. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings and manage Memento's iCloud data through your Apple account and device settings.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection concerning personal data processed by the developer, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To make a request, email support.memento@gmail.com. Some Firebase data may not be reasonably linkable to your identity without relevant technical identifiers.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority, including the authority in your place of residence or work.
11. Children
Memento is a general-audience app and is not specifically directed to children. Memento does not require an account or ask users to provide their own name, email address, or age. Parents and guardians should supervise children's use where appropriate. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a way that requires action, contact the developer.
12. Security
Memento uses Apple platform security, encrypted device storage, and CloudKit-supported protection for synchronized content. No method of storage or processing can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
13. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when Memento's features, service providers, or legal obligations change. The date at the top will identify the latest version. Material changes will be communicated in an appropriate manner.
